MIRIAM MACGREGOR

b. 1935

EDUCATION : Guildford Art School

Miriam Macgregor worked for the publishers B.T. Batsford for several years in the art department and subsequently freelance.

In 1977 she joined The Whittington Press, where she still works as a part-time compositor, and for whom she has illustrated a distinguished and delightful sequence of books, including a series of miniature books and her review of seasonal change, Diary of an Apple Tree.

She has also worked for other fine press publishers for whom Whittington prints, and for the Folio Society, for whom she recently illustrated Silas Marner.

No one taught her to engrave: Stanley Lawrence once gave her a demonstration over the counter.
