Description

By Ian Stephens. Bicester: The Primrose Academy (imprint of Primrose Hill Press), 2001. A signed limited edition of thirty-three wood engravings chosen by the artist with an autobiographical note describing his early life in the enchanting North Buckinghamshire countryside of England and influence of the legendary Stanley Lawrence on this mostly self-taught engraver who describes himself as "that unusual, and possibly even tragic, thing--a Welshman who cannot sing." Each engraving is printed from the block. Bound in blue beautifully patterned boards with gold lettering on buckram spine. The patterned paper used for the binding was built up from the Bumble Bee engraving on the first half title, printed by offset lithography, 135 numbered copies signed by the artist, printed on Zerkall mould made paper. Slipcased. 26 x 15.5 cm. First Edition. Individual prints available.
